Muzaffarpur Agrotech is a growing food processing factory employing 300+ daily-wage workers across 3 rotating shifts. Attendance was recorded manually by supervisors on paper muster rolls at shift start.
The fraud was systematic: supervisors were marking absent workers as present and pocketing a share of their daily wage. Cross-checking was impossible without a centralised record. The factory owner estimated the leakage at ₹1–1.5 lakh per month. Overtime calculation was equally broken - disputes over wage amounts were a monthly occurrence.
We installed industrial-grade biometric fingerprint devices at both factory gates - rated for dust, grease, and high humidity, which are standard conditions in a food processing environment. The devices log every entry and exit with a timestamp. Custom desktop software pulls this data every 15 minutes and auto-calculates each worker's hours, applicable shift rate, and overtime. At month-end, payroll is generated in 20 minutes with a full audit trail - no manual inputs, no disputes.
“We stress-tested the fingerprint devices against the actual dust and grease conditions on the factory floor before installation - not in a showroom. We needed 99% read accuracy on difficult hands, and we got it.”

All 300 workers were enrolled into the biometric system over 2 days during shift changeovers - without stopping production.
